Apparently a number of people aren’t aware of Time Machine’s mobile backup or “local snapshots” feature in Lion. This article explains what it is - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4878?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
It’s been months since the first official release of Tedium but the time has finally come to put out an updated release of Tedium. While it doesn’t seem like much has changed since the initial release I can assure you that a lot of work went into the guts of Tedium to better support Time Capsules and other network shares that require passwords.
New in Tedium 1.0.0 includes:
- Much easier to add an available Time Capsule
- Easily toggle the mobile backup feature of Time Machine
- Easily initiate a mobile backup or normal Time Machine backup from Tedium’s menu bar menu
- Many other small improvements and bug fixes
You can download the latest version right here or if you’re already running Tedium by choosing the “Check for Updates” menu item.
Turns out that Tedium’s inability to deal with passwords that have special characters requires a large portion of Tedium to be rewritten. I want to make sure that I get the next version of Tedium right, so I’m delaying the next release of Tedium until I can ensure that passwords with special characters are supported properly.
Next version of Tedium will be released soon! Next version will make it easier to configure Time Capsule destinations, toggle the Mobile Backups feature of Time Machine and start a mobile or regular Time Machine backup.
Hoping to get the next release out before the end of this week.
The first official release of Tedium is now available! Tedium allows you to manage a number of Time Machine destinations and easily switch between them using Tedium itself or automatically by combining it with ControlPlane.
You can get Tedium 0.9.0 by clicking the DOWNLOAD link located above.
The first beta release of Tedium is now available for download. This release allows you to setup a list of Time Machine backup destinations and then switch to them by selecting a configured destination and then clicking apply. You will be prompted to install a helper tool that is used to do the heavy lifting behind the scenes.
Tedium requires OS X 10.7 (Lion) or newer, it is NOT compatible with Snow Leopard.

This will be Tedium’s home. Look for more information soon.
